BAHRE CHAIR
Walnut, Seagrass
The Bahre Chair explores migration, hope, and reconnection with one’s homeland, inspired by early German and Prussian settlers in Barossa. Drawing from “Totenbahre” ceremonial artefacts, the design embodies resilience and adaptation. Its intentional instability evokes the motion of a vessel at sea, while the raw seagrass weave adds a rustic, primal quality, echoing the elegance of Biedermeier upholstery. The chair metaphorically reflects the fragility and impermanence of migration, honoring the journeys and hardships of those in search of a better future.
