Inspired by the backwater boats of Kerala, the Vallam Bench echoes the silhouette and construction of traditional “kettu vallam” vessels. A central frame supports the seat made of stitched pieces, with three legs referencing the supports used by artisans for the boat construction . Stitching is done with gradients of indigo-dyed cotton yarn, developed in collaboration with textile designer Ivana Taylor, pay homage to the sea and India’s rich indigo textile heritage.
